Virtual Audio Cable software (VAC) allows you to connect audio applications to each other. VAC routes audio signals (streams) between such applications, keeping as low latency as possible. Traditional hardware audio devices (DVD/CD/LP player, FM receiver, equalizer, amplifier etc.) may be connected together by electric cables (analog or digital).
A device that produces audio signals (for example, a player) is connected to a device that consumes and processes a signal (for example, an amplifier or equalizer), and so on. Some devices can both produce and consume audio signals at the same time. Computer audio applications work like such devices, producing (playing) and/or consuming (recording) sounds (audio signals), and VAC works like an electric cable. Therefore, VAC allows you to connect applications and transmit sounds between them.
